<idAbs>Severe Storms 2002-2019 Average Annual Frequency
About this map: This depiction of severe storm hazard across Puerto Rico uses Iowa State University’s Environmental Mesonet data – an archive of environmental data from cooperating member observing networks. The hexagonal grids utilized here provide a standardized method for overlaying multiple hazards each with different spatial representations. Average annual severe thunderstorm warnings issued (2002-2019) is calculated for each hexagonal grid, representing 0.5 sq. miles, and symbolized using an equal interval classification scale. </idAbs>
