Name: Wildfires - Average Annual Number

Display Field: GRID_ID

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: Average Annual Number of Wildfire Events About this map: This depiction of wildfire hazard across Puerto Rico is derived from a Monmany et al. (2017) fire occurrence study. The hexagonal grids utilized here provide a standardized method for overlaying multiple hazards each with different spatial representations. The total number of fires per barrio was averaged for each hexagonal grid, representing 0.5 sq. miles, and is symbolized using the Monmany et al (2017) classification scale. Darker areas indicate a higher annual frequency of wildfire hazard across Puerto Rico.
