About this map: This depiction of tsunami hazard across Puerto Rico uses the tsunami inundation model of 2012 (MOMRAS). The hexagonal grids utilized here provide a standardized method for overlaying multiple hazards each with different spatial representations. Total land area inside the tsunami inundation zone was calculated for each hexagonal grid, representing 0.5 sq. mile, and is symbolized using an equal interval classification scale. Darker blue areas indicate more land area inside tsunami hazard zones across Puerto Rico. |
