About this map: This depiction of fog hazard zones across Puerto Rico is based on outputs from the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN) for the Commonwealth (1989-2018). The hexagonal grids utilized here provide a standardized method for overlaying multiple hazards each with different spatial representations. An average annual number of days with fog is calculated for each hexagonal grid, representing 0.5 sq. miles, and is symbolized using an equal interval classification scale showing areas of higher fog hazard frequency across Puerto Rico. |
