Description: Human Caused Hazards Maximum Annual Frequency About this map: This depiction of Puerto Rico’s human hazards is based on the Global Terrorism Database and the USDOT’s PHMSA database. The hexagonal grids utilized here provide a standardized method for overlaying multiple hazards each with different spatial representations. The average annual number of human-related hazard instances is calculated for each hexagonal grid, representing 0.5 sq. miles, and is symbolized using a modified natural breaks classification scale. Darker shading indicates a higher historical frequency of human-caused hazards across Puerto Rico.
