About the map: This depiction of social vulnerability across Puerto Rico is based on 29 variable and calculated at the US Census tract level. The hexagonal grids utilized here provide a standardized method for overlaying multiple hazards each with different spatial representations. SoVI categories for each census tract, calculated using standard deviation classification, are averaged for each hexagonal grid, representing 0.5 sq. miles, and symbolized using an equal interval classification scale showing areas of higher social vulnerability across Puerto Rico. |
